2: Years Between Conferences

IBC was first held in 2006, and has been held every two years since, making this our sixth conference. The planning for 2018 will start soon!

3: Chair Persons

IBC 2016 is being planned by an all-volunteer committee of 17, three of whom share the chairperson duties.

4 DAYS: July 14-17, 2016

The Conference will be held at the Cobb Galleria in the northern suburbs of Atlanta, from July 14 – 17, 2016. We have reserved space for breakout sessions, a feeding lounge for quiet nursing, pumping, or bottle feeding, childcare, and the Vendor Hall.

Connected to the Galleria via enclosed promenade is the Renaissance Atlanta Waverly Hotel. We have reserved a block of rooms for $159 a night, which includes parking and complimentary internet.  Rooms are limited, though, so please reserve early! There are at least 18 restaurants available within the Galleria, at the Renaissance, or in the Cumberland Mall (connected via Sky Bridge), plus tons of shopping!

The conference will start on Thursday, July 14th, with Registration and the Vendor hall opening late-morning, followed by breakout sessions after lunch. Sessions will take place on Friday, Saturday from 9 am – 4 pm. Sessions will continue on Sunday starting at 9 am and commence with the Keynote address which will wrap up at 1 pm, to facilitate travel home.

5+ After Parties

There will be several ‘official’ evening events during the conference, plus we anticipate lots of impromptu after parties. Bring your party shoes!

30+ Vendors/Sponsors

Our Vendor & Exhibitor Hall will be unprecedented! With more than 30 expected vendors, you’ll be able to shop for every type of carrier and accessory you can imagine. Stay tuned to IBC on Facebook and Twitter for sponsor announcements.

100+ Breakout Sessions

We’ll cover a broad spectrum of topics, with a variety of excellent speakers. This year, the sessions focus on four tracks:  Enthusiast (Beginner & Advanced), Educator (BWI and Non-BWI), Industry Professional (Manufacturer & Retailer) & Medical Professional. Everyone is welcome to sample sessions from all four tracks – they’re just to help you navigate the schedule.

Pack your suitcase…carefully!

500+ Demo Dolls

TSA will probably be just a bit startled by all the dolls in suitcases! If you choose to carry a doll on, be sure it’s filled with non-metallic weights so it won’t cause a problem at the metal detector. If you’re in need of a quality demo doll, we’ll have both professional and DIY options – stay tuned for more info on both.

700+ Attendees

We anticipate over 700 attendees for 2016! That’s 699+ babywearing friends for you – some friendships to renew and others to make.

5000+ Carriers

Carriers for sale from vendors, carriers for sale or trade from attendees, and carriers for teaching in sessions add up! An average of 5 to 10 carriers per attendee means a LOT of carriers. Just think what that mountain of fluff would look like! Don’t forget to save room in your suitcase (or just bring an empty one along) to take your newly expanded stash home.

COUNTLESS MEMORIES

At IBC 2014, I got to do a lot of things:  meet my internet babywearing friends in person; teach a breakout session; attend great sessions taught by other babywearers; shop for both myself and my local lending library; hang out with my roomies; take (and pass) my ABE skills assessment; and more.  I learned a lot and laughed even more. It’s one of the most fun experiences I’ve had, especially since becoming a parent.  Spending so much quality time with other babywearers is not only a great way to learn and grow, but also a chance to both geek out and just be yourself – no other group will understand your babywearing hobby in quite the same way!

2016 will build on that foundation: more attendees; more friends; more sessions; more vendors; more shopping; more laughing; more everything! Come join the conversation on our Facebook chatter group and tell us what you’re looking forward to! Share your own #IBCByTheNumbers photos on Instagram.
