Bibliography Task Force kicks off BWI’s committee work

By Susie Spence | December 4, 2007

One of BWI’s foundational tasks is to create an annotated babywearing bibliography, or a list of babywearing research and resource material with short reviews to explain the nature of the article (or other type of resource) and how it applies to babywearing.  The bibliography is major step toward BWI’s becoming an information clearinghouse for child health professionals, researchers, and caregivers interested in learning.  It is also a foundational step for our professional outreach program.

The six-member task force is headed by Bridget Hahm of Tampa, Florida.  Ms. Hahm is a healthcare research study project manager by vocation and has extensive experience with literature reviews, evaluating the credibility of resources.  She has experience specifically with creating annotated bibliographies as well.  Other task force members contribute such credentials and experience as a master’s degree in information science, experience in literature reviews, abstracting, indexing, bibliometrics (citation analysis and building thesauri), legal research, and general research.  Some task force members have already compiled babywearing bibliographies for their University theses.

The task force expects to complete its work in the first quarter of 2008.  After review by the board of directors, it will be available through the BWI website.
